After a really long plane trip & with very sore bums we arrived in Paris 10 mins early. John had left his priscription reading glasses on the plane into Dubai so we had to spend about 30 mins at airport trying to sort out collecting them on the return trip. Then the shuttle bus took us to the Wrong Ibis hotel. Sorted that & our hotel was only a 5 min train ride from the airport. Went straight into Paris to see the Eiffel tower....said Hi from you Di & that you would be over soon to say Hello yourself.......Paris is even dirtier than I remember. We were stuffed by now so headed back to the trtain...............fell asleep so lucky John was able to stay awake!
The train trip down to Bayonne was unreal according to John....full of French countryside!! It was very flat. Been rainig here today....but Bayonne is very pretty & very old. We will get an early train to SJPdP tomorrow & may even start walking then too. Already think we have too much gear & have culled already.
This french keyboard is really weird....letters in all the wrong places & all those french acutes & graves etc on it as well. Hence this is a short msg just to let you know we are still alive

Hello
Glad you arrived in one piece, always good to have a bit of drama -adds to the excitement.
Funny how you describe Paris - Chris and Steph were there last week and thought it was just beautiful!!!! Happy walking - look forward to your next blog.
love Sue M.
Fiiinally.
I tried to get on a few days ago but the site was blocked. I thought Johns "attachments" may have corrupted my laptop.
Walking, why are you walking? Don't they make machines to get you where you want to go?
I'm jealous of your excitement and adventure.
No John, you can't tell the locals you are the big white barra hunter from down under.
Enjoy it, as I know I will be.
Good luck.
First cold morning of the year today, 10C.
Hi Pilgrims Glad to hear you arrived safe and sound.Had a good look at your adventure on the web, looks fantastic, we were going to get up and walk this morning to get in the spirit but couldn't be bothered, decided to leave it to you.Have a great journey.. Love Ron n Di
Ha Ha! Good one Ron ! Great support!!
You'll soon walk off the "sore bums", I'm sure.
Good one with the glasses John! Was this a ploy so that you don't have to read anything while you're away?
We didn't read if you had re-created Richard & Emmeline's photo with the Eiffel Tower !?!
I have an idea that you've been over the Pyrenees before? If so, has much changed in 30 years?
We're all thinking of you, setting off and know that you're going to have some wonderful memories and stories to share. Looking forward to them all.
Paul's work computer didn't let him into this site just by putting in the web address. He had to Google it to get access. He's looking forward to adding his personal charm to your comments pages!
xx

Finally a blog. The budgens internet has been playing up a bit and i have only jsut now been able to get on.
Typical Dad to leave his glasses behind. Let me guess, they were in the pocket of the seat. He kept putting them there on the way back from singapore. I think he needs to invest in a strig around the neck so he doen't leave them behind.
Applied to another apartment yesterday but not holding out much hope as there were at least 30-40 people lined up to view it. Will let you know how it all goes.
Hope you are starting to get into the swing of things with the language and walking.
Looking forward to the next blog.
Keep safe.
Love you x x
