Boadilla de Camino

Hello hello....still OK....another 20kms today......over a pretty steep hill to start with....on the tablelands of the meseta...by the time we got to the top it looked like all the mountains arouns us had been sliced off with a giant knife....they were all flat & the same height.....I got a taxi at the 11 kms mark as I was getting emotional again....this Camino has been very confrontational for me....lots of tears . John walked on & got to here in absolute record time...he can go so much faster without me...his legs are like machines....all that training Peter.
Lynley we are impressed that the Pointsweatiers are going to walk 20kms...serious training at last. How many coffee stops does it include?
Rodger...every time I have an apple I think of you....you´d just love these....slightly wrinkly & last years crop!!!
Ronnie & Di...keep the songs coming...John sings them as we go & you know how well I think he sings!!!!! ¨These boots are made for walking¨
Jill & Pete....haven´t quite made the 5 stars yet but plenty of Vino Tinto to kill the pain
Sankers...kepp up the bike riding....you´ll soon have quads to die for...Or look like a rugby player.
No 5...bad luck we´re not buying for you for Xmas....they have great barra fishing lures here!!!!! Spanish fly!!!
georgina, Mar-Mary & Dominique......thanks for your supportive messages....I know you understand where I´ve been coming from
Mum & Dad....we´ve been walking some places on paths like the ones cows make on the side of hills...barely enough room for your feet to pass each other. Dad you´d love the red wine here...it´s really mellow & far too easy to drink. I know you´re both saying a prayer for us & we´re saying them for all our loved ones at home
Emmeline & Richard....it´s good to get your texts & know you´re thinking of us....we love you & miss you both terribly
Love to all

Go Barkers Go!!!!

There you go.... I knew it wouldn't take long for you to get your stride going. I can just see John when he has the freedom to go at his own pace... he is a 'man on a mission'!!

Don't be fretting Tina if he does more than you on some days. Even if you walked every step together you would still have different experiences. No one knows how we each experience each step in life.. and no one can walk in our steps. xD

From my small amount of walking around these mountain top villages in Umbria and thinking I was at a reasonable of fitness, I am exhausted some days. You two are amazing .. kepp it going.. cant wait to hear all your stories. Cheers M

Great work Barkers - go for it!!

Now things are looking better. Getting into the groove and taking in the experience. The mix between taxis and walking is ideal Tina - smart/balanced approach - keep managing the hip/the feet and the Germans - don't mention the _ _ _?
John - running 800km in 9 days- that's about 89km per day everyday - you've got to be joking?????

Big Question Johnnie?? - little fast legs + 10kg on your back and a muddy track - paints a strange mental picture of little man up to waist in mud with feet like a barefoot on a frozen lake - will have to enter you in funniest home video.

The more I read the more I envy you both - can't wait to read the next episode.

Stay Well

WOW...sounds to me like you're both getting so much out of this experience. You think you're emotional now...imagine what you'll be like once those bones of St James's are looming over the horizon..!! And Dominiques even saying rosaries for you...(or is that for them to get up the next Italian hill for the gorgeous views...?) I'll be checking this out again tomorrow now I've got the times sorted out. Lots of love and energy to you both. Mar-Mary

Gidday Barkers.
Been on nightwork and providing ongoing security to Wellesley St. Met your nighbour the other day (on your left). He was on to me being in the back yard but glad to see the uniform. The fleas at the back also got a glimpse of the uniform and pulled their heads in.
I am very impressed with your perserverance and how you have adapted to what is an extremely demanding pigrimage. After reading your exploits I feel like a woos considering I need to catch my breath just going to get a beer from the fridge and visiting a podiatrist cos of a sore foot. Now that you've got the place wired, it is obvious that you're really taking in the sights, sounds and delicious foods and wines which was the aim of your holiday.
Battle on........and I might go for a walk today after being inspired by you two.
Take Care.

Hi John & Christina Ballerina
We've been thinking of you both everyday & really enjoy reading about your journey & experiences. We are so impressed with your
sheer determination to push through physically & emotionally no matter what. You are inspiring me to conquer some things of my own I've left in the too hard basket- So thankyou - your aches & pains are not wasted.
I typed a message to you on May 1st As my computer skills are limited, I asked Corinne to send it. Well last night when checking all the comments & didn't find it! I guess you could say "not happy Jan". Saw Peter today, he showed me how to send a message. Easy as! So hopefully this message reaches you this time, so you know we look forward to being updated with your wonderful adventures, and that we miss you guys already & are so proud of you.

Hugs & Kisses

Am so gobsmacked after reading an email mGeorgina sent re your treke and people's comments....what an eyeopener...what they see in their lives now... what agonies they had with sore bodies, feetand blisters crying ,didn;t like the students on their bikes in the more populated areas, but what they feel now is to return....perhaps you too ! Smart thinking re the taxi...did you take John's pack ? Hey Pete, John BBarker thinks he is so smart to challenge you now he has done the hard yards. Also John I knew I should have given you some string for your glasses around your neck...next time. When you, in your pain, have finished this trip what elation and satisfaction you will have and feel sorry for us. Keep smiling and enjoy the people and sights. Much love

I'm so glad you're experiencing this time together, even though sometimes it's hard.

Mum is talking about a website I directed her to - www.santiago-compostela.com It has day by day photos of the journey and other stuff to read about experiences on this pilgrimage. Checking out Day One was an eye-opener and helped to really take in what you faced. I walked from Byron Bay SLSC to Watego's Beach and back, on Sunday and it took me two days to get my feet back to reasonable!

We all look forward to your blogs and hope for some photos soon.

xx

Say Hi
What a journey. We am living with you every day. I think the journey is more about inspiration and self worth. Once you think you can't do it. Then a little self talk and reaching deep inside for that extra ounce of energy. I love your messages & now that I have mastered this blogging I will send you more messages. Don't give up just use the taxi when necessary & see the lot.
Hugs & Kisses
And go you good things
