Well after a very cold & wet start to the day, we only did 7 kms & decided to book into a hotel to get dry & warm....probably should have waited a while as the weather is clearing but we have enjoyed our wander around Sahagun....it is market day....they are the same all over the world....veges, fruit & the usual cheap shit....also lots of salted fish.
Spent the last 3 hours sitting in a bar that seems to be the place to go on a Saturday arvo when the shops shut (as they do every day at 2pm). Had 3 glasses of vino tinto each, a pizza (yum) & then later some ¨patates bravo¨ (fried bits of potato drizzled with garlic mayo & chilli sauce, served on a platter with toothpicks) extra yum!!!! We really enjoyed watching the locals....they all smoke in the bar....stand on the butts on the floor (it´s the ashtray)....we´ll probably have lung cancer by the time we get home!!!!!
John here...Speaking of home, as i was walking in the freezing rain this morning I have come to the moment in my life that I am prepared to say those much aligned words ¨I´m sorry¨ I´m sorry for everything thats happened to all & sundry!!!!! Can I come home now ? !!!!
Tina was watching the locals in the bar & the locals were watching us !!!!!!! all good fun, one couple gave us a taste of their patates so we knew what we were about to order.
Here in Spain you can buy a bottle of good Vino tinto for less than the price of 2 cans of Coke !!!! How good is that !!!.
Along the same lines M-M, John has got ¨dos cerveza por favor¨down pat!!! Also ¨dos vino tinto por favor¨ & then he asks for the cork as well (with lots of sign language). We´re also pretty good at asking for ¨bocadilla¨ at lunch time.....unfortunately we are beginning to get a bit sick & tired of copious quantities of white bread.....it comes with absolutely everything....even salad!!
Lucas....thanks for checking on the house
Pointsweatiers....how did the 20 kms walk go? ´We will be interested to hear how you went....John says we will be back soon to train you, Spanish style
Emmeline....good luck with the next lot of flat hunting....& with finishing probation. The Budgens will be home before you know it.
Richard....good luck with the study....that little bloke you told us about has lots of problems doesn´t he? There´s a shortage of doctors in Spain as well...
Again. Happy Mother´s Day to all the mothers in our family & friends
Ronnie....¨Rescue Me¨¨¨¨
Love to all

Hi John and Tina
I was thinking of you last night and logged onto your blog for the first time. I was absolutely blown away by the wonderful experiences you are having. Top marks for your determination and endurance to contine on. Eventhough it is hard going, it will be a holiday and adventure not to be forgotten and certainly one to tell the grandkids about??? The vino at the end of the day would help to deaden the pain. Really interested to see your photos and hear further stories when you get home. Also will look forward to reading further updates on your blog. Norm doing well - can drive short distances now.
Love Pam and Norm
Hi. It's my turn to communicate while under the influence of too much vino!
Just had Mothers' Day Lunch and thought I would tell you about it. Imported beer and Champagne then Dry White and Muscato with Oysters and Lime, then Fresh Prawns and Seafood Sauce with Sourdough and Wholemeal Breads. Then Bug Tails cooked with fresh Chives and Dill and Garlic and the best Olive Oil and served with fine pasta and the good Oil and seasonings and Salad. Finished off with Chocolate Slice and pieces of Dark Chocolate of various flavours with a little glass of Muscat.
MMM I need a sleep before I drive home!!
xx
She just copied from D and M's...she's soooo lazy. And probably waaaay tooo much muscato for her own good. She thinks a small sleep...I think she needs a Sleepover at Dick and Lou's !!!!
That was me who hasn't had too much...!!!
It took her about 15 minutes to type that !!!!!
Now Greg says " I'm not as thunk as you drink I am" ...
Well, after another glorious autumn day in Brisbane(just thought you should know!)your latest blog makes for good reading.
The walk hasn't happened yet - we did 25/25 on Sat, then 30/30 next week before we go the 22km on Saturday 24 May - Sylvia measured it out. We've discussed coffee stops, support vehicles, etc - it's turning into a production - with many turning up who wouldn't normally be at bootcamp. The plan is to start at Tish's and walk to Cleveland Pt then return with an optional extra of Tish's to Wello Pt and back. Exactly which path we're taking is yet to be finalised. One thing's for sure, it won't be the same sightseeing that you're experiencing!
Great to see that you're finding your own pace and enjoying some of the more leisurely pursuits as well as the walking. Hope you've had a great day today, that the weather kept improving and that John is back to "trust me" rather than rescue me. Have a vino for us.

Hi JnT
Well MOther's Day is nearly over.
I hope you both shared a nice day together. We had all the kids over for Brekky & then lunch at Hawkins Nursery with my Mum, Andrews Mum & Dad, Sister from Gladstone & his Grandmother. Great Day.
Your trip is getting more & more Inspiring. It feels like you have both settled in to a rhythm. Do you sometimes sing marching tunes along the way. Just think back to some of those old war songs they were nearly all marching tunes. Maybe you like to whistle "Bridge over the River Kwai" Anyway enjoy the journey.
We are looking forward to our 22K walk to Cleveland Pt. & back. As we do this journey your ears will be burning as we discuss some of the things you have to endure especially when we start to get close to the 20K mark.
Cheers for Now.
Rene & Syl
